Do you miss the buzzing sound in your garden or the community park, do you feel the flowers have lesser bees sucking nectar now, if yes, then continue reading this article to know why the population of bees have declined?

Bees are flying insects and close relatives of ants and wasps. Bees are social insects and live in colonies. The beehive consists of a single queen, a few hundred drones, and thousands of worker bees and are some of the hardest working creatures on the planet.

Why Are Bees Important?

They play a vital role in the ecosystem and are an indicator of a healthy environment. But, for a few years, the population of bees and other pollinators are dwindling in abundance in many parts of the world.

Save the bees

There are diverse reasons as to why the population of bees is declining rapidly; this shrinking population poses a huge risk to agriculture and biodiversity because bees are one of the major pollinators of the Earth and are estimated to pollinate the majority of flowering plants around the world.

Bees are decisive to our existence and we must work harder to protect and preserve them.

The bees are the vital pollinators, they pollinate almost 80% of the world’s crops, fruits, and flowers. The process of pollination is the transfer of pollen to a stigma, ovule, flower, or plant to allow fertilization.

pollination diagram of bees

The bees pollinate when they visit a plant species to collect nectar, the pollen from stigma, the male reproductive part of flower, sticks and get trapped in bees hair and when the same bee lands on another plant, the pollen is rubbed off onto the stigma, the female reproductive part of the flower, resulting in fertilization.

The bees are important for pollination because they pollinate many crops and support the agriculture industries of many countries, and bees are the reason we have a variety of diet and nutrients on our plates. They account for a third of the $3 trillion worth of agricultural products sold each year.

The bees pollinate a variety of crops such as almonds, apples, cauliflowers, lettuce, onions, pumpkins, radishes, etc. They also pollinate alfalfa, clover, and lupins: which is fodder for cattle, hence support the dairy and meat industry too.

Wildlife habitats and biodiversity:

The bees build homes for many species and make biodiversity through the process of pollination.

Wildlife habitats and biodiversity of bees

The role of bees has helped in the growth of tropical forests, savannah woodlands, and temperate deciduous forests. The growth of forests has further helped in making an ecosystem that allows diverse species to co-exist.

Food source:

Honey, which bees produce to feed their colonies, is used by bees in the winter season and is also a great value to human beings and a few other insects. Since, prehistoric times honey has been used in meals, baking, and drinks, and are widely used for its medicinal value too.

Bees are also a part of the food chain; at least 24 species of bird, including the blackbird, ruby-throated hummingbird, and startling, prey on bees. Many spiders and insects, like dragonflies and praying mantises, eat bees as well.

honey bees food source

Honey bees are very important for the survival of a healthy functioning ecosystem because they are the reasons, we have a diversification of food crops, which feed the billions of people in the world and play a massive role in building the economy of the country.

The bees also provide honey to humans and other insects and birds.

Finally, they help in the growth of wildlife habitats and biodiversity.

Why Are the Bees Dying?

It is the practice of producing a single crop in a given area. Monoculture is not natural hence is not healthy for the environment.

This practice of monoculture farming has negative impacts on the lives of bees because they don’t get the required nutrients from a single standing crop.

Monoculture farming

Similar types of crops adversely affect the health of bees because the source of nutrients shrinks and leads to a weak immune system in the bees.

Furthermore, pests find monoculture easy prey because they get an abundant identical food source to attack; the farmers use pesticides to protect their crops from pest attacks and these pesticides are very harmful to the bees.

Pesticides such as neonicotinoids are applied to crops to control and kill the pests that plague them. The problem is, they also harm bees.

Lethal pesticides and pollutants act upon a bee’s central nervous system. This can cause all sorts of behavioral and systemic issues relating to navigation, feeding, and more.

pesticides affects on bees

Eventually, it can kill them. Seeds, coated in such substances grow into plants that will continue to poison bees and other wildlife as they grow.

Habitat loss:

Monoculture is the leading cause of habitat, loss of the bees, followed by the massive destruction of forests around the world.

The habitat is lost to resource extraction and human settlement too. Many bees are negatively affected when large areas of habitat are broken up into smaller, isolated patches because these habitat fragments are not large and diverse enough to meet the requirements of all the bees.

Honey Hunting:

Honey bees worldwide is exploited for their honey and other products.

The consequences are honey hunting kills bees, it may for some bee species and in some areas represent a non-sustainable depletion of honeybee colonies and habitat, and honey hunters may cause forest fires.

Parasites and diseases:

The bees are dying at an alarming rate due to parasitic attacks. Varroa mites, a parasite that kills bees by sucking their blood; when the mite attacks the bee, they are succumbing to illness and disease and eventually die.

Climate Change:

The major reason for bee decline is global warming. Some wild bees can only survive in a narrow range of temperatures. As their habitats get warmer, the places where they can live grow smaller.

For example, some bees might be forced to live at higher altitudes, where it’s cooler, reducing the space they have to live in.

The Impact of Bee Extinction on the Ecosystem

The bees are an integral part of the ecosystem, so losing an important element of our nature can collapse the whole ecosystem. The impact of bee extinction will be enormous and varied for all the species.

Crops and Plants:

There are numerous plants and crops which are pollinated by the bees; butterflies, birds, and other animals also transfer pollens but bees do this effectively because they jump from one plant to another to collect nectar.

Moreover, there are a lot of plant species that are pollinated by a certain type of bees, so losing the population of that distinct bee means losing that plant species too. If bees went extinct, there would be an immense reduction in the production of crops.

The herbivores depend on plants for their survival; many cattle consume alfalfa, clover, and lupins, and bees are the major pollinators of these plants.

So, if there is a decline in cattle fodder, the meat and dairy industry will be affected. Furthermore, the whole food web is interconnected, which means a reduction in the population of any species will affect the whole animal kingdom.

bee pooling

If there will be fewer crops in the field, it will impact the survival of the human population because food shortage will result in world hunger and famine.

The bees also influence the clothing industry because they pollinate cotton, which is the major raw material required by the clothing sector.

What Can We Do to Save the Bees?

Grow bee-friendly plants: In this step, we all can make a garden and plant it with beautiful and bee-friendly plants like sunflower, mustard, safflower, carrot, onion, etc. These attract bees and provides the bees with a variety of nutrients.

If you are a farmer or a gardener opt-out of using harmful and lethal pesticides, instead use organic products and composts. Write to the farming organization to stop using the pesticides which are deadly for the bee.

Host a fundraiser or donate and support your local beekeepers and organizations because they work hard to nurture the bees and the local community.

Sign petitions to the government and the concerned authorities to ban the pesticides which are unhealthy for the survival of bees.

Pros and Cons of live-in relationship in India

Do you need relationship counselling for different styles of relationships? These live-in relationship tips will help you make a smart decision about your love life.

When it comes to living-in-relationship before marriage, there are some clear beliefs and perceptions of individuals.

Many times, before you want to live with that person for the rest of your life, a lot of doubts bump your mind and your family. Is it fair or bad? Is it really a smart thing to be living in a relationship before you get married?

Live-in Relationship in India:

It’s surprising to know that live-in-relationships in India are more common among young people than you thought. These relationships have been around for decades, but the focus has only recently turned to them.

Yeah, there are a lot of good stuff about those relationships and downsides, too.

Consider these two situations to understand the main distinctions, benefits and drawbacks of these two forms of partnerships.

Case 1 –

A girl and a boy have been dating for over two years. They plan to get married. They actually got married and had a beautiful honeymoon. They’ve lived together for a while but then they’ve found that things don’t go well for each other as they’ve began to face relationship issues.

They have complaints and arguments over minor problems. This has been going on for three years, and then they divorced, finding that they can’t stay with each other.

Case 2 –

Girl and boy have been dating for over two years, and they agreed to marry. But before they get married, they want to know each other better and to make sure if their relationship is compatible or not. And they agreed to share a live-in relationship with each other. They quickly discover that there are usability problems. And now after two years, they’re going to divorce.

Some people get into a live-in relationship because they think they’re angry at each other and others do so because they want to accept and meet their partner.

There are also similarities and drawbacks of these forms of partnerships. The same is true in live in relationships, too.

So if you’re looking to move in with your girlfriend, remember these pros and cons of a live-in relationship:

Pros of Live-in relationship –

1. Living together before marriage has greater consequences for a relationship. Living couples have ample time to know each other well and to make a well-informed decision to get married or to split without further aspirations.

2. Compatibility between the partners is of the utmost importance as mentioned in the two relationship cases referred to above. To check mentally and actually compatibility, partners should consider getting professional guidance on living marriages to sustain a stable relationship for a lifetime.

3. Love is a crucial choice for all parties and requires complete attention to the future of any partnership. This days, people are nuts about their dreams and their jobs. Broken relationships often hurt. Breakups are better in a living relationship. And don’t you like ‘we break up’ rather than ‘we’re divorced?’

4. Live-in relationships are ideally suited to a high paced life. Couples do not have to give up any freedom, nor do they have to assume any liability. As a result, there will be no problems of fidelity as in marriage.

live in relationship advantages

5. If you are not happy with your mate, you can simply grab your bags and walk out without any legal consequences. There may be a heartbreak of a living relationship, but that’s easier than a breakup that has a social shame tied to it.

6. Both partners are completely equal in life-in terms of both security and equality. They all know the doors are open to get out of the relationship. So they owe each other social and financial room and respect. Relationship assistance should still be requested if desired in the future.

7. Another advantage of being in a relationship is that a couple does not need to listen to the advice of family members or to bow to the burden of society. Unlike marriage, they do not need to observe the customs of society. Relationship advice can also be requested by experts to address challenging problems.

Cons of Live-in Relationship –

1. A live-in relationship leaves little to be explored further. Unrealistic aspirations could lead to ill-will and a distance between the pair.

disadvantages of live in relationship

2. Live-in-relationship is not permanent; a couple of shares time together, relax and then move on. They promise to be together for a long life while in relationships.

3. Physical intimacy can be enjoyable at times, but if you don’t stay or marry the same person, it can make you feel guilty or sad, particularly in a female.

physical intimacy live in relationship

4. There is little consistency in these kinds of partnerships, since they are not stable, and partners can quickly split up. This could be a heart break for any girlfriend. The main downside is the lack of dedication. Anything that comes from a little conflict or dispute will lead to a divorce. But if a couple is dating, they will make every attempt to preserve their friendship and find solutions to conflicts or misunderstandings.

5. Things are changed after marriage. Comparing current actions with living-days can trigger stress and even contribute to divorce.

6. Women are always on the receiving end when a live-in-relationship fails. It becomes impossible for a woman to find a decent and understanding husband after a long life relationship.

7. Life in relationships lacks the depth and stability of marriage. Trust is also doubtful. And if an infant is born out of a living-in-relationship, the child is the most affected. There will be procedural problems relating to paternity and custody if the couple steps out of the relationship. This will generate disrespect and hatred for the spouses in the child as he/she grows up.

Human relations are complicated, and marriage is a big burden. Today, the young generation enters into diverse forms of relationships in order to fulfil their physical mental, emotional and financial needs. It has become a rising theme for young people in metro cities.

Negativity can creep in almost unnoticed at times, and you do not know the negative consequences before something dramatic occurs.

To prevent toxicity from infiltrating your relationship, make sure you avoid these typical attitudes and practises that can potentially weaken relationships.

Data indicates that communication style is more important than commitment levels, personality characteristics or stress in determining which couples will be satisfied.

Good partners don’t avoid conflict, but they know how to keep the channels of communication open. Happy couples realise that the best talks are going on without noisy phones, tablets and computers.

2. Don’t Forget the Small Things

Saying thank you, please, shouldn’t be reserved for the corporation. Manners are important, even with the person you’ve been with for 20 years.

Extend the same respect to your partner as you would to a visitor. Please say thank you, make a pleasant conversation, and why don’t you give your partner a drink? A few manners and charms can go a long way to preserving a society of mutual respect.

3. Exercise Together

Research suggests that couples who exercise together are not only happier, but more happy with their relationship.

Psychology Today cites many reports that report that the signs of physiological arousal (the sort of high you get from exercise) mirror the results of sexual and romantic arousal. When you work out together, you’re going to feel beautiful and in love!

4. Go On Vacation

A couple’s retreat can be energising for a relationship, but so they can move on their own! A few happy, healthy couples take their own short holidays, or take frequent social group trips.

Being lonely, making new people, or having trips without a partner can be very empowering. At the end of the day you will return to your energetic, enthusiast-and more in love than ever before.

5. Laugh

Laughs relaxes the entire body, activates the immune system and releases endorphins. Laughter consultant, Lesley Lyle, author of the book Laugh Your Way To Happiness, says that smiling and laughing would make you feel better-even though you’re forced to!

So even though both you and your loved one had a hard day, try smiling and joking for no cause at all. The physical act of laughter is going to make you happy and better.

6. Eat together

Families who eat together, remain together. The dining table is a venue for couples and their family members to connect and eat – both physical and spiritual.

Couple eat together

Eating nutritious food together at the table not only encourages good family wellbeing, it also offers a daily, holy spot for discussion and laughter.

7. Have Sex (Romance) Every Day

Having sex every day reduces the anxiety that some couples have when it comes to doing” time.

In his novel, How One Couple Switched Off the TV and Turned On Their Sex Lives for 101 Days (No Excuses!), author Douglas Brown argues that having sex every day not only decreased this tension, but also brought him and his wife closer together after 14 years of marriage.

couple romance sex

Plus, sex itself can lower blood pressure, boost sleep, minimise tension and even avoid cancer of the prostate. Couples who have sex every day believe that it not only reinforces their relationship, but also enhances their health.

If you’re a coworker, a partner, a friend, a mom, or a grandfather, let the person know that you respect them from time to time.

Everyone wants to be respected in life, and then they feel like they’ve made a difference in the world. If you consider and appreciate someone’s good qualities, they will be motivated to regard you in the same way. Positive relationships need affection, care, and reciprocal respect for both.

Next time you see a client, a coworker, a partner, etc., let them know that you love them and how much you really cherish them.

Most people use their time together as an opportunity to disperse all their life problems to one another and to vent their grievances. This leaves both people feeling tired and uninspired after conversation, and opens the door to more negativity in the future.

Dream of solutions instead of discussing problems. Remember each other for the beautiful things of life, and raise each other up. Healthy relationships become perfect because they make all partners happier than bitter.

10. Be tolerant of physical change

When your wife and you grow old together you can both evolve and improve – and since you’ve grown so happy together you will be eager to point out faults in each other.

But if you want your happy partnership to last, you can never mention the stretch marks, the beer belly or the bald spot! No matter how tired and wrinkly you all get the answer to “How do I look like that?” “It’s still like, “You look amazing (and I love you).”

11. Follow All the above tips

Krishna Raslila is part of Indian tradition. It is mentioned in Hindu scriptures such as the Bhagavata Purana and literature such as the Gita Govinda, where he dances with Radha and gopis. The Raslila takes place in the night, when gopis on hearing, Krishna’s soothing flute, sneak out of their homes to dance with Krishna. In the Krishna Bhakti traditions, the rasa-lila is considered to be one of the highest and most esoteric of Krishna’s pastimes. In these traditions, romantic love between human beings in the material world is seen as a reflection of the soul’s original, ecstatic spiritual love of Krishna, God, in the spiritual world. The divine dance is born out of pure love and devotion.

The Nidhivan temple houses a beautiful idol of Radha Krishna and is surrounded by a sacred ‘Kunj’ or forest, where Lord Krishna and Radha rest after the raslila is over. Nearby, there is a small temple called Rang Mahal where it is believed that Shri Krishna embellishes Radha with his own hands. Priests at Rang Mahal temple place toothbrushes, a saree, bangles, paan leaves, sweets, and water before closing the gates after night aarti. However, everything- is found scattered in the morning as if somebody has used them.

Krishna Raslila was started by Swami Sri Uddhavaghamanda Devacharya in the early 15th Century CE at Vamshivata in Vrindavan, Mathura. He was a prominent saint of the Nimbarka sampradya, and disciple of the world-renowned Swami Sri Harivyasa Devacarya. The Vani literature of Vraja is the transcription of the songs that were heard by Swami Harivyasa Devacarya and his Guru, Swami Shri Shribhatta as they meditated on the Nitya Lila of Shri Radha Krishna. These songs describe the eternal spiritual abode of Shri Radha Krishna, the Sakhis and Nitya Vrindavana Dham – or Nikunj Dham.

 Raslila in Contemporary Times

Krishna Raslila is a popular theme in classical dances like Kathak, Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Odissi, and Manipuri. Raslila is admired during the festival of Krishna Janmashtami, Holi, and among others like Gaudiya Vaishnavism in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

The Krishna Raslila is being popularized to new music style, from its traditional form nowadays, but there a few devotees who still preserve and praise the traditional art of Raslila.

Adam and Eve, Forbidden Fruit and ‘The Fall’

Adam and Eve are the human couples, pioneers of the human race. They belong to the Judeo-Christian era and Islamic traditions. In the holy bible, there are two narratives of their creation.

According to the Priestly (P) history of the 5th or 6th century BCE, God on the sixth day of Creation created all the living creatures both “male and female.” God then blessed the couple, to “fruitful and multiply,” and gave them dominion over all other living things.

According to the lengthier Yahwist(J) narrative of the 10th century BCE, God, or Yahweh, created Adam at a time when the earth was still void, forming him from the earth’s dust and breathing “into his nostrils the breath of life.”

God then gave Adam the primaeval Garden of Eden to tend. Subsequently, so that Adam would not be alone, God created other animals but, finding them insufficient, put Adam to sleep, took a rib from him, and created a new companion, Eve.

Their first children were Cain and Abel. Abel, the keeper of sheep, was highly regarded by God and was killed by Cain out of envy. Another son, Seth, was born to replace Abel, and the two human stems, the Cainites, and the Sethites descended from them.

The Forbidden Fruit.

The account of the Book of Genesis places Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden.

The forbidden fruit grows in their garden, which the god demands humankind not to eat. In the biblical narrative, Adam and Eve eat the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and are exiled from Eden.

God forbid the fruit because he cared for humankind. The forbidden fruit is a metaphor in the sense that it represented the knowledge of good and evil. The fruit represented an alternate reality: separation from God.

A professor at the University of Trinity said the humankind is diverse and there is significant genetic diversity among humans, that it is not possible that Adam and Eve are the original reproducing pair.

They argue that science is unable to resolve the question of Adam and Eve but, they write: “Science says that there was never a time when only two people existed on the earth: it is silent on whether or not God began a special relationship with a historical couple at some point in the past.”

Movies made on Adam and Eve

If you want to further know about Adam and Eve; there are numerous movies made on the first man and woman. The list is as follows:

  • Adam and Eve (1910)
  • Adam and Eve [Vitagraph] (1912)
  • The New Adam and Eve (1915)
  • Young Eve and old Adam (1920)
  • Adam and Eve a la Mode (1920)
  • The Bible: Creation (1921)
  • Good Morning Eve (1934)

The story of the fall of Adam is often considered to be an allegory. Findings in population genetics, particularly those concerning Y-Chromosomal Adam and Mitochondrial Eve, indicate that a single first “Adam and Eve” pair of human beings never existed.

Osho- The Most Controversial Spiritual Guru of All Time

Below we are going to discuss the most controversial spiritual Guru of all time (Osho). This blog will walk you through the Osho’s Childhood to Work and Achievements, Life events, & their Ahsrams & Osho’s Death.

Osho and his Childhood

Osho was born on 11th December 1931. His birth name was Chandra Mohan Jain, also known as Rajneesh. He was an Indian godman and founder of the Rajneesh movement.

Osho lived in a rural family, at his maternal grandparents’ house. Osho was exposed to the utmost freedom at his grandparents’ house as his grandmother let him live his life without an imposed education or restriction.

At the age of seven, Osho’s grandfather died, and he went to live with his parents, Babulal and Saraswati Jain, in Gadarwara.

The death of his grandfather when he was seven and his cousin when he was fifteen affected his childhood phase a lot. In his school life, Osho was a rebellious student and an excellent debater.

Work and Achievements

Osho has introduced the idea of dynamic meditation which, commences with the period of uninhabited movement which- leads to catharsis and is further followed by a period of silence and stillness.

It has become a profound technique among his disciples around the world.

Osho presented meditation not just as a practice but as a state of awareness to be maintained in every moment, a total awareness– that awakens the individual from the sleep of mechanical responses conditioned by beliefs and expectations.

Osho in the US Prison

Thirty years ago, Osho was arrested and juggled between six US jails. The reason Osho was put behind bars was to silence him because he was gaining media attention and also to deport him from the US as he was fighting the immigration case through the US justice system.

After his jail experience, Osho shared the shocking details of US mass incarnation and exposed the cruelty faced by young people in US jail.

The reason Osho was a threat because he questioned the status quo and danger to the status quo is always sensed by the establishment – which then quickly tries to silence the people.

Osho’s Centers in the World.

There are 300 Osho information centres and meditation centres in more than forty-five countries of the world. These centres provide a look at Osho’s books, experience his meditation and get an insight into his life.

Rajneeshpuram was a religious intentional community in Wasco County, Oregon, incorporated as a city between 1981 and 1988.

Its the population consisted entirely of Rajneesh’s, followers of the spiritual teacher Rajneesh, later known as Osho.

Its citizens and leaders were responsible for launching the 1984 Rajneeshee bioterror attack, the single largest bioterrorist attack in the United States, as well as the planned 1985 Rajneeshee assassination plot, in which they conspired to assassinate Charles Turner, the then-United States Attorney for the District of Oregon.

Osho’s Death

Osho died on 19 January 1990, aged 58, at the ashram in Pune, India. The official cause of death was heart failure, but a statement released by his commune said that he had died because “living in the body had become a hell” after alleged poisoning in US jails.

There are three critical aspects to Osho’s death which demand scrutiny. The first is the extraordinary secrecy around Osho at the time of his death.

This was followed by his speedy cremation. Some also believed that the account of Osho’s death is a detailed script and not factual. However, after three decades, his death is still a mystery and indecisive.

While Rajneesh’s teachings were not welcomed by many in his own home country during his lifetime, there has been a change in Indian public opinion since Rajneesh’s death.

Osho has found more acclaim in his homeland since his death than he ever did while alive.

Many Bollywood personalities like Mahesh Bhatt, Parveen Babi were also known to be the followers of Rajneesh’s philosophy. His books are available in more than 60 languages from more than 200 publishing houses and have entered best-seller lists in Italy and South Korea.

The Indian society functions on culture and traditions, and anything beyond the confines of Indian ‘Sanskar’ is unacceptable and inappropriate. Humankind is evolving and changing, and this results in challenging the norms and traditions which have been present since time immemorial.

The youth of the 21st century is challenging many deeply entrenched practices of society and introducing a positive change. One such taboo which the young generation is breaking in conventional Indian society is the notion of live-in relationship.

As Soke Behzad Ahmadi once said, if you wish to break with tradition, learn your craft well, and embrace adversity. The youth have acquired the craft of dissenting. They are aware of the laws and their rights to a live-in relationship.

A couple chooses to engage in a live-in relationship to check the compatibility between them before getting legally-married; it also saves them from courtroom procedures if the couple decides to break up. Though the number of couples moving into live-in relationships is increasing in big cities, it is still very controversial in our conventional rural society because marriage is a more socially-accepted form of relationship.

The couples who stay in a live-relationship are not accepted by society; many times, by their parents, they also face the challenge is in finding a house because many renters don’t prefer giving a place to unmarried couples. After all, they feel it is illegal for a man and woman to stay together under one roof if they are not married.

The Bollywood movie Luka Chuppi portrayed the problems faced by the character of Kriti Sanon and Kartik Aryan, who move into a live-in relationship in a small town. It throws light on the mentality of Indian parents because they believe that the couple has eloped and got married.

After all, parents don’t understand and approve of the concept of live-in relationships. The film also highlights how the owners ask for proof of marriage to heterosexual couples because they disdain a man and woman living in the same house without tying the legal knot of marriage.

But things are slowly changing the society is accepting the idea of live-in relationships, at least in the big cities, because for a lot of landowners and, renters it is the source of income, and they don’t raise questions until the money is following. There is a very peculiar acceptance happening in society parents don’t welcome live-in relationships of their children but are okay with others having it.

In India, there is no law which deals with the concept of live-in relationships. The Supreme Court held that a living relationship comes under the ambit of the right to life under Article 21 of the constitution of India. The court further upheld that live-in relationships are permissible, and the act of two adults living together cannot be considered illegal. The legislature has put the Domestic violence act 2005 under the ambit of live-in relationships by giving rights and protection to women who have not been legally married but are living in a live-in relationship.

Section 125 Criminal Procedure code incorporated by the Supreme court of India to avoid vagrancy and destitution for a wife/minor/old parents, the same law is now extended to partners in live-in relationships. The live-in relationship involves pre-marital sex, and there are high chances of a child being born; the Supreme Court of India has granted them the status of a legitimate child along with the property right. Indian law doesn’t allow couples living together to adopt a child.

Honorable Justice A.K. Ganguly said, “With changing social norms of legitimacy in every society, including ours, what was illegitimate in the past may be legitimate today.” It is an appreciable decision for all the live-in partners, but societal acceptance has a long way to go in India.

The number of couples indulging in live-in relationships will increase in the future because the young partners are keeping themselves away from the shackles of marriage, or they want to experience compatibility before getting married. There is a need for extensive legal laws in India related to live-in relationships, and society as a whole needs to widen and accept the concept of live-in relationships.

The idea of live-in relationships can challenge the institution of marriage as a whole as in the future- many young people will opt out of getting married.

As Mahatma Gandhi once said, Be the change you want to see in the world, and the youth is revolutionizing society and bringing controversial topics to the surface.
